Poetry & Relaxation Feature

This forest canopy, accompanied with cool running water beside it, was the birth place for our indigenous women. A place of such beauty that you could sense held many memories of joy, pain and loss.

In every class I teach, I extend an invitation to experience a guided relaxation. Through carefully crafted guided scripts of my own invention, drawing inspiration from the wisdom of those who’ve treaded this path before me, I aim to offer a pause for the body to acknowledge the changes from the physical practice, bringing back to a natural state of homeostasis.

Occasionally, I’m fortunate enough to share a beautiful piece of writing that may resonate with those gathered in the room. Today, I am delighted to share one such treasure – ‘You Have Become a Forest’ written by Nakita Gill. This piece offers a sentiment that strikes a chord across various age groups on multiple levels.

If Nakita Gill’s creations intrigue you, and you’re eager to delve into more of her inspiring work, I’ve provided a link below, along with proper credit to this remarkable artist.

You Have Become A Forest by Nakita Gill

One day when you wake up, you will find that you’ve become a forest.
You’ve grown roots and found strength in them that no one thought you had.
You have become stronger and more beautiful, full of life giving qualities.
You have learned to take all the negativity around you and turn it into oxygen for easy breathing.
A host of wild creatures live inside you and you call them stories.
A variety of beautiful birds nest inside your mind and you call them memories.
You have become an incredible self sustaining thing of epic proportions.
And you should be so proud of yourself, of how far you have come from the seeds of who you used to be.
